What the checks are
The self-check and the company check are free guides. They are not tax, legal or financial advice, and they do not tell you whether a company is registered for CIS or holds gross payment status: only HMRC's verification can. A flag means worth a closer look, never that a company has done anything wrong.
Where the information comes from
Company information comes from the Companies House public register at the time of the check. Figures about the rules come from GOV.UK, linked on each page. We check them, but GOV.UK and the register can change, and they can hold mistakes we cannot see.
Using the site fairly
Please do not use automated tools to run checks in bulk. We limit how many checks one connection can run.
Our liability
We take care over what this site says, but you remain responsible for your own checks and your own tax affairs. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
