Check a subcontractor company

Type a company number or name to see public red flags from the Companies House register, each worded as worth a closer look, with the question to ask.

Sole trader or partnership? They are people, not companies, so we do not check them here. Verify them with HMRC as you would anyone.

What we look at

  • How new the company is
  • Whether it is active, or has a strike off notice or an insolvency history
  • Whether its accounts or confirmation statement are overdue
  • How many times its directors changed in the last 12 months (a count only, never names)
  • Whether its listed business is construction, or labour supply

Limited companies only. We do not keep the number you type or the result.

What this check cannot tell you. We cannot see a company's CIS registration or gross payment status. Only you can, by verifying them with HMRC before you pay.
